Fat

Stem cells derived from the patient's own fat is very exciting and promising. It has been used to treat many, many disorders. Sometimes it it given alone, and sometime given in conjuction with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to enhanced results. The process by which the fat stem cells are separated out of the fat is more complex and more time consuming than all the other stem cell sources, and thus is the most expensive.

Fat

At Cedar Stem Cell Institute in Columbus, Ohio, we offer adipose plus PRP given in combination intrathecally via a spinal tap. This is good to try and help patients with spinal cord injuries and profound weakness. We inject into the spinal canal below the level of spinal cord injury so that we cannot possibly make the injury worse, only better. We try to improve motor function even a few muscle groups can have a very positive impact on the patients quality of life. Sometimes these injections can help reduce pain.

We can also inject stem cells from fat into the iv, which systemically goes to all parts of the body. This technique is good for autoimmune disorders such as MS or rheumatoid arthritis.

Stem cells from fat cells can also be injected into targeted pain areas such as a single joint. Cedar SCI can inject two painful joints at one time which offers a discount on the second joint making it somewhat more cost effective.
